Silvia De Toffoli is a researcher in Logic and Philosophy of Science at the School of Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia. De Toffoli has earned two PhDs: one in mathematics at the Technical University of Berlin (2013) and one in philosophy at Stanford University (2019). Before becoming a researcher at IUSS, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the philosophy department at Princeton University (2019-2022) and an assistant professor in philosophy and Wallenberg Academy Fellow at Linköping University, Sweden (2022). Her specialization is in the philosophy of mathematics and epistemology. She has written numerous articles on the epistemological roles of mathematical diagrams and on the nature of epistemic justification in mathematics.
